2012

  •  Dr. Rand was successful in getting a Harrison McCain Emerging Scholar Award - $8000

  •   Sabrina Hiefer is joining Dr. Rand's team in May as an undergraduate researcher

  •   Shalon Oldford-McLellan is completing her studies and graduating with an MScAG degree in May

  •  Dr. Rand will be presenting a paper on UV Disinfection Synergy at the American Water Works Association Annual Conference in Dallas, TX in June

  •   Amina Stoddart, a previous undergraduate researcher who is now in a PhD program at Dal, won the Fresh Ideas Award at the ACWWA conference in St. John’s, Nfld and will also be presenting her paper at AWWA ACE in Dallas in June

  •  Congratulations to Emma Vost on successfully defending her M.Sc. thesis!

  •  Stephanie Rodgers' paper is accepted by journal Estuaries and Coasts.

  •  Sarah Haverstock's BSc thesis work on DOC photo-degradation is accepted for publication by the journal Chemosphere.

  •  Erin Mann heads to Resolute Bay to sample snow for her PhD project. Insanely cold weather and airlines complicate the trip but things go well. See pictures !

2011

  • Dr. O'Driscoll and Mercury Lab interview of Breakfast Television: Video LINK

  • Lab Safety Session in KCIC Classroom taught by Dr. O'Driscoll..

  • Logan VanBlarcom is back as a Research Assistant in water quality lab this summer (project : UV and chlorine disinfection and biofilm formation).

  • Kayleigh Brown joins water quality lab as a research assistant (project: removal of E. coli with varying water quality).

  • Amina Stoddart (Rand Lab) is accepted to the Master’s of Applied Science program at Dalhousie University and is awarded NSERC PGS-M Scholarship. Congratulations!

  • Thanks to  Aimee Adams for filling in as technician this spring for the new Ion Chromatography system.  Aimee is currently developing new Phosphate and Phosphite methods.

  • CARE is presented to Acadia Board of Govenors.

  •  NSERC president Dr. Suzanne Fortier visits CARE
